Equipment

Your child will require the following:

  • handwriting pen (blue fibre tip)

  • pencil

  • ruler

  • rubber

  • coloured pencils

  • pencil case

To help your child care for equipment we recommend that you provide a small satchel, brief case or strong bag. Large sport bags are unsuitable due to lack of storage space. Please ensure that all bags are clearly named and as much of their equipment as is possible.

Valuables

Children should not bring large sums of money or valuables to school unless there is a special reason.  Such items should be handed to the form teacher for safe-keeping but please note that, whilst every care is taken, teachers cannot in law be held responsible for items put in their charge by children.  It is recommended that children wear a money belt or bag.

Prohibited Articles

For reasons of safety and care of the building, bubble gum and chewing gum are not permitted on the premises.  Children are also discouraged from bringing sharp objects to school.  Mobile phones are not permitted in school as a public phone is provided for the use of pupils but if required for use to and from school MUST be handed into school office first thing in the morning. MP3 players and similar equipment are banned.

Lost or Broken Equipment

We expect lost or damaged books and equipment belonging to the school to be paid for or replaced.

Bicycles

It is clearly convenient for some children to cycle to school and the school is able to provide a limited number of cycle racks.  Children must obtain a cycle pass from the office before being permitted to bring a bicycle to school.  For the sake of safety, cyclists must dismount at the school gates and always 'walk' their bicycles on school premises; children who break this rule will not be allowed to cycle to school.  We regret that we are unable to take responsibility for loss or damage, and we recommend that where possible children walk to school.
